P1 World Geograpy
Students will review weather and climate and make a climate graph. Today Ms.Fowlkes reviewed with us about the affects of latitude, elevation, and water proximity on climate. We also studied a climate graph of sao Paulo, Brazil. It showed Temperature and precipitation. Then we created a graph.Well I'm out peace!

Today my teacher was out ,so we did not have an objective.We did a worksheet on Booker T. Washington.He was born during slavery time.In 1863,after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued,his family was realesed from slavery.He walked 500 miles to Hampton and took a train the remaining 60 miles.Booker T. Washington was admited into Hampton, Viginia college when he took a broom and swept the room clean.Booker T.Washington is a man a will try to remember.

Today in Mrs. Fowlkes class we had did a study guide. We had reviewed on the five themes of geography.We mostly talked about location.There are two types of location,absolute and relative location.Absolute location is the exact spot on earth where a place can be found.Relative location where it is in relation to others places.

Today the groups presented their GISTs. We discussed what makes climates vary. We talked about the effects of ocean and wind currents. p3 WORLD GEOGRAPHY
Today in MRS. Fowlkes class we had to go back over "THE FIVE THEMES OF GEOGRAPHY" THE five themes of geography are location,place,region,movement,and interaction.Location allows you to discuss places in the world in terms everyone can understand.Places can have human characteristics.A region is a group of places that have pysical fetures.Movement is when people,goods,and ideas move from one place to another.Interaction occurs because humans depend on,adapt to,and modify the world around them.This is all we got to today.

7 GRADE OBJECTIVE:Sudents will explore the climate &plant life of the worlds natural regions............ Today in .Mrs.Fowlkes class we did fodables of the ten natural regions of the world.the ten natural regions are:tropical rain forest,tropical grassland,mediterrean,temperature forest,cool forest,cool grassland,desert,tundra,artic,&high mountains.a natural region has its own unique combianation of plant and animal life and climate. Today in Social Studies we started reading and researching for our school museum project. We read about what events led up to the Harlem Renaissance. It was a time after WWI when blacks began losing ground. They responded by fighting back and developing the ideals of PAN AFRICANISM. Marcus Garvy was a leader in this movement and he started the United Negro Improvement Association.Well I'm out. PEACE! I want you all to join my blog called PEACE ROCKS!

Today students demonstrated their knowledge of prehistoric people and the development of agricultural villages. Tell me what you remembered about this? Was the mastery of fire or the emergence of spoken language more important in the process of human development?

P6 World History
Today we read and discussed the origins and development of prehistoric people. We read, discussed and plotted a class timeline of the Neolithic and Paleolithic periods. We discussed the fossil of Lucy, tools and artifacts found by archaeologists at excavations sites in East Africa.
P5 World History
Today, we completed and enrichment activity categorizing characteristics and achievements of prehistoric man. We compared and contrasted the Neolithic and Paleolithic Ages as well as examined the cause and spread of agriculture during the Neolithic Revolution.
P4 World Geography
Today we started making foldables. They describe the five themes of geography. These themes help us to unify the ideas of geography. The foldables list each theme, a characteristic and example that relates to that particular theme. I look forward to hearing your thoughts about this creative activity.

We have read about and discussed the importance of having laws in our society. It is necessary to have laws in order to protect our rights to life, liberty and property. If rules and laws are not followed, then our freedoms are threatened. It is our each citizen's responsibility to know the rules and laws so that we can follow them. This applies to school, home and community. It is up to each of us to keep our communities safe and free from crime. What do you think about rules and laws? We have read and discussed laws that govern our society. Philosopher John Locke believed that we are born with the rights of life, liberty and property and the government is charged with the protection of these rights? What do you think about it? Does having laws create more freedom or less? Should you be able to exchange songs online without paying any money to the artist? Citizenship means being a member of a country or other group. When you are a member of something that means that you follow the rules of that group or organization. How do people become citizens of a country? What are some of the duties and responsibilities of being a citizen? What are the different roles that we play as citizens? Our government needs us to be good citizens by paying taxes, following laws, serving on a jury or in the military. Could America be a great country to live in if citizens did not perform these duties? What do you think life would be like if we didn't perform our duties and responsibilities as citizens?

P3 & P4 The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
We are viewing the movie entitled "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" as part of The Big Read sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts. The setting of the story is in the 1830's. Examine Tom's life and adventures and compare them to the life of a child in the in the 21's century. What things are similar? What things are different? Why do you think that the author created Tom's character as an orphan? Do you think he would have had such adventures if he lived with his mother and father? Are there advantages to being and orphan? Are there advantages to growing up with two parents? What else did you learn about American history from viewing this film?

We are watching the film "The Great Debaters" starring Denzel Washington. Our goal is to learn debate techniques. This film also delves into the issues of workers' rights and civil rights. U.S. Constitution
The U.S. Constitution of the United States is the plan of government for our country. It is the supreme law of the land and was adopted in 1789. Much debate and compromise was necessary to develop the U.S. Constitution. It is still in use today.
